Possible cause based on priority

Error Type

Error Description

Possible Remedies

Check the ame sensor and wiring for damage, water or other possible shorts to ground (replace ame sensor).

Blocking (Auto Reset)

Faulty ame sensor

Flame detected out of sequence

5 02

Faulty PCB

If problem persists replace the PCB.

Verify the gas pressure to the appliance while in operation. Ensure pressure is between 3.5 and 10.5”WC (Natural Gas), or between 8 and 13”WC for boilers converted to Propane (LP) operation. Test combustion at high and low re and set it to the high end of the recommended range for the fuel type used.

Improper gas pressure

Improper combustion settings Restricted Air inlet or Exhaust

Check the inlet and exhaust for restriction .

Blocking (Manual Reset)

Flame lost ten times during run

5 04

Dirty combustion chamber or burner

Clean the combustion chamber and burner.

Clean the ame sensor with a mild abrasive or replace the ame sensor.

Dirty /Faulty ame sensor

Blocked condensate drain

Ensure the condensate drain is clear and drains freely.

Inspect ame probe wire for loose connections, shorts to ground or damage. 5P1 may be displayed momentarily if there is a problem the boiler will lock out. Follow the directions for the lockout.

Damaged ame probe cable

5 P1

1st Ignition Failed

Normal operation

Warning

5 P2

2nd ignition attempt failed

See lockout 501.

5 P6

3rd ignition attempt failed

See lockout 501.

In some circumstances the ame will lift during run due to wind.

Wind

Blocked venting

Ensure nothing is obstructing the venting.

Detection of Flame loss during run

5 P3

Warning

If the problem is persistent a lockout will result, follow the trouble shooting for the lockout. If the ame loss is bothersome and does not result in a lockout, see error 504.

Combustion settings or Gas pressure

Air Intake / Exhaust Gas Outlet

Ensure the boiler is free of air and pressurized to a minimum of 18PSI and check that the blue light on the internal pump is on during the heating or hot water demand. Ensure the combustion chamber is cleaned regularly so that ue gas can pass easily. If the error is accompanied by popping or hissing, the boiler my have scale build up preventing proper heat transfer. De scale the heat exchanger if needed. Check fro proper readings from the Flue sensor. Compare it to the reading on parameter 834. If the parameter 834 reading is signi cantly higher ,replace the Flue sensor. Inspect the combustion chamber for damaged or missing refractory replace any damaged or missing components. Check the wiring to the Flue sensor for water or corrosion.

Inadequate water ow

Dirty Combustion chamber

Exhaust Temperature exceeded 204F (the error can only be cleared when the ue temperature drops below 149F)

Water scaling

Blocking (Manual Reset)

6 02

Faulty wiring

Faulty sensor

Missing/ Damaged refractory

clogged condensate drain

Clean the condensate trap ensure its draining freely.
